2020 is about finding multi-talented Canadian gems like Lennon Stella.
She started out as an actor on TV—but since I’m more of a movie fanatic, I didn’t know that part about her. My first experience with Lennon Stella was through her singer-songwriting journey. You may have heard her on a track with Jonas Blue and Liam Payne called, “Polaroid”.
Lennon Stella has worked hard to secure her spot in the pop music landscape over the past two years—collaborating with The Chainsmokers and Illenium. She’s ready to fill her breakthrough solo artist shoes.
With her debut album, “Three. Two. One.”, arriving on April 13th, Lennon Stella not hiding what she’s bringing to the table. Her new single is complete with two tracks: “Jealous” and “Kissing Other People”.
And Three. Two. One. will probably also feature, “Golf on TV”.
Lennon Stella sometimes reminds me of Ellie Goulding, Kimberly Anne, and Lana Del Rey all at once. There’s a smokey, velvety texture to her voice. And after listening to more of Lennon Stella’s work, it’s like her voice travels along the same wavelength with just enough distinction.
It just works in the world of pop.
It’s not a game that you are losing
When I’m with someone else and I’m not missing us
If I can live without you, sue me
Somebody told me that you think I’m tryna make you
Jealous (Ooh), jealous (Ooh)
I do better things with my time
Than tryna make you
Jealous (Ooh), jealous (Ooh)
Why can’t we move on with our lives?
For me, Jealous is very familiar—the production of the song is great and the lyrics hold an image of a boy who will soon live to regret her absence. Having worked with co-writers like Erin McCarley, Finneas O’Connell, Justin Gammella, and Ruslan Odnoralov, it should be amazing.
The interesting part for me is the music video. I like the fact that we’re invited in for a sneak-peek of Lennon Stella’s world. Her Jealous music video was like a info-documentary—a day in the life of Lennon Stella. The pairing of the song and the music fit perfectly because the lyrics describe someone who believes that she isn’t quite over them, but she’s in fact showing us she’s getting on with her own life.
Bravo on the execution. Top-notch.
Okay, I like Jealous. The track and the music video… But do you know just how catchy Kissing Other People are?
It’s incredibly catchy. I listened to it once about a month ago and as soon as I heard it again, I knew all the lyrics. That doesn’t ever happen to me. I know so many songs but ask me to recite the lyrics? Nah happening.
So, whatever it is Lennon Stella is doing… it’s f*cking working.
I can’t wait for the album to drop. Young, talented, and stylish? I’d say she got the whole package and then some.
